Miami Events
As with all major cities in the US, Miami has a packed events calendar that ensures that no matter when you visit the city, there will be something for you to enjoy during your stay. Aside from the frequent conventions and exhibitions that take place in the city, and the regular sporting events such as major NFL clashes between the Miami Dolphins and their American Football rivals, there are also special events that just affect certain parts of the city, and others that take in the celebration of the rest of the country.
Major national holidays such as Independence Day and Labor Day are a big part of life in the city, and there are major parties for both.
During the summer months, Miami is a major holiday destination, and most weekends will see at least one major event going on. More often than not, Miami Beach will host a major beach party on a weekly basis, and if you are in the city, you may well find that your daytime entertainment is provided by a well known DJ from MTV or some other channel, and big name rock bands are a common sight.
Another time when Miami is particularly busy is during the College Spring Break season. For a couple of weeks each year, the city fills up with students from all over the country, who descend on Miami in order to meet, drink, and enjoy the weather away from the cold at home.
In little Havana, the Cuban exile community in Miami, there are regular meetings and parties that attract people from all over the city. Rum is consumed, and Rumbas are danced, and the talk turns to what the world would be like if everyone got on like they used to do.
One of the best times to visit Miami is in the run up to Christmas. The city is fast becoming one of the top Christmas shopping destinations in the world, and people travel from everywhere to visit. There are an increasing number of events that are carried out in the city to increase interest including special discounts and other great happenings.
